Travel
Whirlow Grange is situated on the south western outskirts of Sheffield just off the A625 and is on the edge of the beautiful Peak District. Four miles south-west of the centre of Sheffield Whirlow is very accessible. There are buses from the city centre and a taxi service from the railway station which takes about 15 minutes.
Travelling from Junction 29 of the M1
Leave the M1 Motorway at Junction 29 and follow the A617 to chesterfield.
- Approaching Chesterfield occupy the right-hand lane and after passing under railway bridge go right round the roundabout and follow the A61 towards Sheffield (Left lane filter).
- Pass a further 3 roundabouts and approach the fourth roundabout in the left-hand lane (the distance is in excess of 8 miles).
- Turn left - signed (A621) Bakewell and (A625) Castleton and then immediately occupy the right-hand lane to turn right in 200 yards (also signed Beauchief).
- Descend hill through housing suburb to roundabout at bottom - Abbey Lane.
- Turn left - signed (A621) Bakewell and (A625) Castleton and follow road to traffiic lights.
- Go straight across at the traffic lights - signed Castleton B6068 (A625) and follow up through wooded areas and bear left at next junction into Whirlowdale Road - straight and tree lined.
- At top (oblique 'T' junction) turn right and then first left into Whirlow Grange Avenue (there are sign posts at this point) turn first left into Whirlow Grange Drive. The road then forks and Whirlow Grange Conference Centre is immediately on your right.
Travelling from the North-West, Cheshire & Manchester
- Travel towards Sheffield via Glossop on the A57 (Snake Pass) to Ladybower Reservoir take the right hand turning (A6013) Bamford) and proceed to the junction with the A625 Sheffield/Castleton.
- Turn left onto the A625 towards Sheffield and proceed through Hathersage.
- Later after passing the Fox House Inn you will start to decend towards Sheffield.
- When you have passed the Door Moor Inn you will then note on your left (approx. 1 mile) a sign Whirlow Park.
- Whirlow Grange is situated a hundred yards further on the left. Turn into 'Whirlow Grange Avenue' and then first left onto 'Whirlow Grange Drive', Whirlow Grange Conference Centre is then to your right.
Travelling from Junction 33 of the M1
Leave the M1 Motorway at Junction 33 and follow the A630 Sheffield (Centre) known as the Parkway.
- After crossing the A57 leave the Parkway following the signs 'Mosborough - Ring Road - Services'. Keep to the right, round the roundabout and almost immediately move into the left lane and up slip road - signed 'Ring Road - Services'.
- Turn left at top of slip road and follow dual carriageway uphill for about 1 mile to cross A616.
- By following signs (A621) Bakewell from here and eventually (A625) Castleton you will reach Ecclesall Road South and Whirlow Grange Conference Centre in approximately 6 miles from the Mosborough Services.
Look out for the following:
- After 2 - 2.5 miles from Mosborough and crossing over two more roundabouts you will pass the campus of Norton College on the left.
- Occupy right hand lane as you approach next roundabout (Junction of A621).
- Go straight ahead at roundabout - signed (A621) Bakewell and (A625) Castleton.
- Immediately occupy right hand lane to turn right in 200 yards (signed Beauchief).
- Descend hill through housing suburb to roundabout at bottom - Abbey Lane. Turn left signed (A621) Bakewell and (A625) Castleton and follow the road to traffic lights.
- Go straight across at traffic lights - signed Castleton B6068 (A625) and follow up through wooded area and bear left at next junction into Whirlowdale Road - straight and tree lined.
